Building Ghana's digital future, together.

brCTF (Break the Code: Capture the Flag) is a Ghanaian NGO that identifies, trains, and empowers the next generation of technology and cybersecurity talent, with free, hands-on training and girls and young women at the heart of everything we do.

Why we exist

Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not.

As Ghana's digital landscape expands, the demand for skilled technology and cybersecurity professionals keeps growing. Yet traditional learning paths often emphasise theory, leaving capable young people without real, hands-on experience.

brCTF was established to close that gap: an environment where people can apply what they know, solve realistic challenges, and build the practical skills modern careers demand. Today every one of our training programmes is free, so cost never decides who gets to learn.

Our story

From a competition to a movement.

2023
The first edition
brCTF launches as a 24-hour Capture the Flag, timed for National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Team MidKnyt takes the first title.
2024
The second edition
The competition returns for its second year, and the community keeps growing. Team sh3ll_sh0ck3rs are crowned champions.
2025
Osagyefo: Defending Ghana's Digital Sovereignty
A three-day event with a cyber conference, policy panels, and a 24-hour final for fifteen teams. The Cyber Security Authority joins as institutional partner. Team Rebirth wins.
2026
The Black Star Edition, and free training for all
brCTF grows from a competition into an NGO: free hands-on training in practical technology skills, with Girls in Cybersecurity as our core mission.
